Heavenly Mountain Resort. Heavenly Mountain Resort is the only ski resort in the nation that spans two states – California and Nevada. The sleek new Heavenly Gondola located a half block from South Lake Tahoe casinos whisks skiers and snowboarders up the mountain in minutes. Heavenly offers 91 trails accessible by 30 chairlifts for beginner, intermediate and expert skiers and snowboarders. Group and private lessons are offered for children and adults. Kirkwood Mountain Resort. Kirkwood Mountain Resort, located approximately 20 miles from South Lake Tahoe, offers traditional skiing and snowboarding, cross-country ski and snowshoe trails, and expert backcountry access. Kirkwood also offers a variety of lesson packages including ski and snowboard instruction for children and adults, women’s only clinics, telemark ski lessons, and avalanche and overnight survival skills clinics. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort is known for its welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere and variety of terrain for all skill levels. Sierra-at-Tahoe is one of the only ski resorts at Lake Tahoe that offers a beginner run that starts at the top of the mountain. The beginner run, Sugar n’ Spice, is a 2.5 mile cruiser that offers panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Peak. Intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders will find plenty of challenging fun in the West Bowl.
